Marshall is the oldest brother of mp3 (aka 'mp1').

He is a licensed attorney in North Carolina and Pennsylvania, and is part of the Washington & Pitts Law Firm in Downtown Fayetteville, NC

From 2002 to 2005, he served two terms as the first African American Mayor of Fayetteville.

He currently serves on the Board of Governors for North Carolina's Public University Sytem.

Marshall is a graduate of Appalachian State University and North Carolina Central University Law School.

He loves cycling and jazz concerts.
